I awoke to find
myself all alone - lying on my back, helpless in the fading light and
staring straight into the eyes of a ferocious leopard...
It was
then that it hit me – as I waited for the nurse to come and turn over
the page in "Financial Management", I read and re-read the CODA
advertisement and the CIMA editorial on the opposite page. I was struck
by the realization that I needed help and that these were exactly the
right people to work with me in my quest to drive accountants
everywhere to extremes!
It had all started a few days before,
when a particularly ill-advised piece of extreme-accounting (involving
a foundry chimney, a charity jump for the Mary Poppins Appreciation
Society and an unexpectedly large umbrella – but that's another
story...) landed me back in my favourite ward of the Pratt’s Bottom
Cottage hospital, in traction and with plenty of time to ponder the
future of my exhilarating but rather hazardous pastime.
Always
one to seize the moment, it was a mere six weeks later that I regained
the use of my limbs and got straight on the phone...
The results
are here to see! Courtesy of the good people at CODA and CIMA, all the
wonders of Extreme-Accounting can now be shared with you all. So – as I
always say to the doctors who give me a cardiac massage – they have my
heartfelt thanks!
And it seemed only fair that my sponsors should have the opportunity to introduce themselves to you...

CIMA
CIMA is the only UK body whose sole focus is on the training and qualifying of accountants in business.
At
first glance, that may not seem very "extreme" but unlike those of
other professional accounting bodies, CIMA's members and students work
across every business sector at all levels throughout the world,
demonstrating the flexibility of the qualification. What's more, CIMA
accountants are usually dynamic, because they are looking more
creatively at situations than traditional auditors.
CIMA was
delighted at the opportunity to support Arnold in his work because we
feel that it's time people stopped pigeonholing accountants as "speccy"
or "plain Janes". CIMA likes to show them in a truer light and our
members have enthusiastically embraced the Extreme-Accounting
phenomenon.
