Hey there, accountant dudes!
Apologies for the rather laid back salutation, but here at Extreme Towers we have been enthused by the onset of Autumn, which brings with it the equinoctial gales, perfect for so many extreme sports, especially those involved in flying and waves.
So, this month the surf is well and truly up, and you’ll need more than a slide rule to measure the distance some of our featured sports achieve on their boards and parachutes.
Quieter beaches, some real breakers, plus the last rays of autumn sunshine, mean that now is the time to pull on your neoprene pinstripe, don your bowler, and head off into the sunset for some extreme accounting fun. There are a few tasters below to start you off.
At the same time, don’t forget to pack your camera, because we still want to see your best extreme accounting photographs, with a view to including them in our 2009 calendar – just click on the link above right and get sending them in. And remember, the more authentic you look, the better the chances of inclusion, so don’t forget to take all your accountancy accessories with you.
The message about a new wave of adrenaline junkie accountants, with more to them than spreadsheets and pinstripes is starting to spread, but we need your help, so please tell all your friends about our action group and get them on board. Registering is easy, and ensures that they will stay up to date with the busy extreme accounting schedule.
Whatever your chosen extreme accounting activity this month, have a great time, don’t forget the bowler and suit, be safe, but above all, stay extreme!
p.s. Don’t forget our recruitment drive – please pass on our details to all your accountant friends; the time has come to stand up and be counted.
Land Sailing in the UK
Land Yachting is the perfect extreme Autumn sport, and what’s more, as long as you tie your bowler on securely, it’s ideal extreme accounting territory. There are over a dozen affiliated clubs around the UK, so there's no excuse for not firing up your laptop, logging on, and joining up for a trial.

British Surfing Association
Surfing is becoming massively popular, and good old island Blighty is the perfect place to learn how to Hang Ten (see, it even sounds like accounting). The British Surfing Association is the first port of call for information on joining, finding a reputable surf school near you, and information on the latest competitions. There are regular try surfing sessions at clubs nationwide (They've probably taught more people in wetsuits than pinstripe suits), and if you fancy going even more extreme, you could always join the SAS - that's Surfers Against Sewage www.sas.org.uk All you need to do is catch your wave whilst sporting accounting attire, and send us the resulting pics.

UK Wind Surfing Association
For those of you a little further from the coast, why not take advantage of the last rays of sun to try out windsurfing, before you know it you will be heading off into the sunset with your pinstripe billowing in the wind (make sure you learn how to turn first, though!) Nov 15 - 16 in Weymouth sees the Windsurfer of the Year competition. Who knows, next time we could have the Windsurfer of the Year End competition!

British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association
Imagine parking your car at a beautiful upland vantage point on a sparkling spring
day. You open the boot and don flying suit and boots, add a shirt and tie, then lift out your incredibly light flying machine in its carrying rucksack and trek off a few yards to where your friends are preparing to fly. After a few minutes spent inspecting your equipment (and no doubt making a few calculations as to wind speed on your ever present calculator) you don helmet and harness, look around, allow the wind to raise the canopy - and launch off into space. This is paragliding accountancy-style!
